The following is taken from an announcement from the Madison County Emergency Management on Wednesday evening. A similar alert was sent to phones via Warn, Alert & Response Network to people in parts of the county. See the forecast on the East Idaho News weather page.
REXBURG — Snow melting on the Rexburg Bench has resulted in water running down the Bench near 5000 South. The affected areas are 3400 South to 5000 South, east of the Archer Highway. Rain and snow are forecast, which could increase the amount of water running off of the bench. Please take the necessary steps to prepare your property to prevent flooding.
If ACTIVE flooding is found in structures, you can call 911 (Madison County) and request assistance with sandbags.
Residents wishing to prepare may purchase their own sandbags and Madison County will provide the sand. Residents are welcome to call Madison County Emergency Management at (208) 359-3010 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to schedule a time to fill their sandbags.
