IDAHO FALLS — The National Collegiate Development Conference champions will return to Idaho Falls, Thursday, and fans are welcomed to greet them.

The Spud Kings, who beat the reigning champion South Shore Kings, Monday, to claim their first Dineen Cup title, are expected to arrive at the Mountain America Center at 6 p.m.

In a Facebook post from the MAC, Spud Kings fans — the “Spud Kingdom,” as they’re known — are invited to join the free celebratory event.

“Cancel all existing plans and join us,” the post reads in part. … “Let’s give this team the royal treatment they deserve.”

The homecoming celebration is set to take place at the Teton Auto Group Plaza at the MAC, with food trucks, a DJ and beer garden.

In its third season of existence, the Spud Kings claimed a regular season Mountain Division crown with a 38-10-4 record (81 points). They went on to beat the Pueblo Bulls and Ogden Mustangs in the Mountain Division playoffs, and claim a spot in the Dineen Cup Championship Series.

Wins over South Shore and the Mercer Chiefs set the stage for a rematch with the team which finished the regular season with the league’s best record. But the Spud Kings again prevailed, beating South Shore 2-1.

Now, all that is left is for the players and organization to celebrate with a fanbase widely known as the best in the league.
