Heinz Closing Pocatello Plant
Published at | Updated at
(POCATELLO, ID) – The Heinz plant in Pocatello is closing. Corporate officers announced the move on Thursday as part of an effort to consolidate their manufacturing base across North America. More than 400 eastern Idahoans employed at the facility will lose their jobs, and nearly 1,000 more will be given pink slips at plants in eastern Canada and South Carolina. Officials plan to issue severance checks and are offering to help their workers find new jobs. Heinz, which markets the “Ore-Ida” brand, produces more than half of the world’s frozen potato products, in addition to their well-known ketchup line.
