Frieda Anne Call Egan
February 4th, 1935 - April 10th, 2026
Frieda Ann Call Egan, age 91, peacefully passed away April 10, 2026, at her residence in Legacy Village in Sugar House, Utah. She was born on February 4, 1935, in Pocatello, Idaho, a daughter of Leland Call and DeLaine Stockham Call.
Frieda graduated from Rigby High School, where she loved leading the marching band as its drum majorette. She was a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado, earning a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, which led her to work as a schoolteacher.
On November 11, 1953, Frieda married her sweetheart, Gary Egan, in the Idaho Falls Temple. This union brought four children, twelve grandchildren, and twenty-four great-grandchildren.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Frieda served many years as a beloved seminary teacher. Her students still recall that she promised a steak dinner to those who memorized all their mastery scriptures. She was also a Stake Relief Society President, a Sunday School teacher, and a choir director. She and Gary served a welfare mission in Mesa, Arizona, and she held many other positions in the Church. Her desire to serve others showed her great love for our Savior, Jesus Christ.
She will be remembered for her love of people, laughing, singing, studying the scriptures, animals, sewing, needlework, and gardening.
She is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Vicki (Heikki) Rinne of Weare, NH; Angela (James) Day of Glendale, AZ; one son and one daughter-in-law, Richard (Pamela Vuong) Egan of Hot Springs, AR. She is also survived by her brother Robert Call of Roseville, CA.
Frieda was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Gary Egan; daughter, Joni Egan Christensen; and two sisters, Lola Swinyard and Karen Barber.
Frieda and Gary left an abundance of loving family members and dear, dear friends.
She was the heart and soul of our family and will be dearly missed.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Legacy Village in Sugar House, Salt Lake City, Utah, and to her home health and hospice nurses at Health Watch.
