Gale Roy Ferguson

Gale Roy Ferguson, 90, of Rigby, Idaho, passed away on April 28, 2026, at Carriage Cove Rehabilitation Center, in Rexburg, Idaho.

He was born on February 10, 1936, in Van Norman, Garfield County, Montana, to Roy Ferguson and Hazel Anna Wisthoff. Gale graduated from Custer County District High School in Miles City, Montana, and later earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Southern California.

Gale proudly served his country as a pilot in the United States Air Force from June 14, 1958, to October 1, 1965. On October 27, 1961, he married Gayle Paramore. Following his military service, he worked as a commercial airline pilot for Trans World Airlines (TWA) from 1966 until his retirement in 1996.

Throughout his life, Gale lived in several places including Miles City, Montana; Riverside, California; Mountain Home, Idaho; Portland, Oregon; Kansas City, Missouri; Hood River, Oregon; and Rigby, Idaho.

He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as well as the Lions Club and the Elks Club. Gale enjoyed woodworking, operating as a ham radio enthusiast, family history work, camping, and fishing. He was deeply involved in scouting for many years, serving as a Scoutmaster, and took great pride in his three sons, all of whom earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

Gale is survived by his children; Jon Huston Ferguson of Rigby, Idaho, Judy Ann Jordan of Byers, Colorado, Janet Gay Morris of Miles City, Montana, Jodi Mae Teeples of Seattle, Washington, and Jerenda Joy Huang of Georgetown, Texas. He has twenty-six grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Wife, Gayle Paramore Ferguson; sons, Roy Call Ferguson, and Paul Edwin Ferguson; his parents and a sister, Shirley Mae Pearson.

A funeral service will be held Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Rigby East Stake Center (4021 East 300 North, Rigby, ID) at 11:00 am. The family will meet with friends prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Olney Cemetery (9424, 865 Tutuilla Rd, Pendleton, OR) on May 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Gale will be remembered for his service, dedication to family, and love of the outdoors.
