Lorleen “Joy” Wheeler passed away peacefully May 29, 2026.

Joy was born in Seattle, Washington, and spent most of her young adult years in Shelley, Idaho, where she lovingly raised her six children. After her family had grown, she made her home in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she resided until her passing.

Joy was blessed with many talents and a creative spirit. She possessed a beautiful singing voice and was often asked to perform at special events for family and friends throughout her life. She was also a gifted artist whose paintings reflected her deep love of nature, often capturing the beauty of landscapes and animals. Joy found great peace and joy in the mountains and spent many years walking and hiking through her beloved Idaho and Utah landscapes.

One of Joy’s greatest gifts was her ability to make others feel valued and loved. She was a friend to everyone she met and had a remarkable way of making each person feel like the most important person in the room, whether in a private conversation or among a crowd. Her generosity knew no bounds; she would willingly give to anyone in need. During the Christmas season, she created cherished memories by taking her children out on Christmas Eve to secretly leave gifts on the doorsteps of families in need, ensuring they experienced the joy of the holiday.

Joy’s life was defined by compassion, kindness, and service. Even during her most difficult challenges, and especially as her health declined, she maintained a positive attitude and an unwavering love for others. She taught her children the importance of serving, accepting, and loving people from all walks of life.

Joy leaves behind a legacy of creativity, generosity, faith, and unconditional love. Her compassionate heart touched countless lives and will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she enriched.

Joy is survived by her six children, Wendy, Daren, Becki, Shauna, Jennifer, and Mandi, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

At Joy’s request, private family services will be held.
