Kirbi Paul Nelson, 55, passed away suddenly at Idaho Falls Community Hospital on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

He was born on October 27, 1970 in Kellogg, Idaho to Orlin “Sookie” Wayne Nelson and Carma “Sally” Ellen Ivie Nelson. Kirbi was raised in and lived in many places throughout Idaho and Montana. He received his education in Mackay, Idaho, graduating from Mackay High School in 1989.

Kirbi loved the outdoors and enjoyed snowmobiling, dirt bike riding, camping, fishing, and fixing anything. He was a member of the Moody Powder Pushers snowmobile club. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Dawson Nelson and his dogs that he loved to spoil.

Kirbi spent over thirty years working for the Madison County Road and Bridge Department. He was well liked and loved by many for his kindness and willingness to help others in need.

Surviving are his sons, Devin Ivie Nelson and Kelby Wayne (Kaybrea) Nelson; his grandson, Dawson Nelson; his son’s mother, Amy Nelson; his sister, Tammy Nelson; his brother, Traci Nelson; his nephews, Chad (Jessica) Nelson, Myles Nelson, and Dominic Nelson; his nieces, Destiny, Storm and Hope Nelson; and his ex-wife, Jerrie Hammond.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Orlin & Florence Nelson and Willis & Hazel Ivie, and his parents, Orlin and Carma Nelson.

A Celebration of Life service will be held and announced at a later date. Cremation services are under the care of Anderson Family Funeral Home in Arco, ID.
