Thomas Lamarr Buxton was born on February 15, 1942, in Driggs, ID, and passed away on May 22, 2026, in Roberts, ID, surrounded by his family.

Tom was born to Orvel Jay (Jack) & Estella Bates Buxton. He was the youngest of five children. Tom loved growing up in Teton Valley, Idaho. He graduated from Teton High School in Driggs in 1960. He loved to participate in sports and especially loved rodeo, wrestling, and football. When Tom was in high school, he served as a Page for the Idaho House of Representatives.

Tom attended the University of Idaho and graduated from BYU Provo in 1965, where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Husbandry and Agronomy.

Tom loved Rodeo. His love for the sport began in high school. That passion stayed with him through his college years, where he was on the rodeo team for both U of I and BYU. Rodeo was more than a sport to him – it was a way of life. He competed in amateur rodeos, and he was a proud member of the RCA and the PRCA.

Tom proudly served his country in the Army National Guard from 1965 to 1971. He was trained as a radio operator with the 116th, where he learned the complex art of Morse code. He served in a medical unit and also was a military policeman.

On February 14, 1970, Tom married Lianne Lang. They made their home and lived in Roberts for over 50 years. His love of Rodeo, horses, and the Western way of life also shaped his career. For many years he worked as a salesman of western tack and saddlery, building lasting relationships with customers, many of whom became lifelong friends. Tom and Lianne had two children, Ryan and Nicolle.

Tom loved his parents and his brothers and sisters. He had such happy memories of all of them over the years and was proud of his pioneer roots. Tom’s pride and joy were his wife, children, and grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Farrell, and his sisters: LaJean Dalley, Shirley Buxton, and Hazel Berger.

He is survived by his wife, Lianne, of Roberts, ID; his son, Ryan (Brittany) of Roberts, ID; his daughter, Nicolle Buxton of Idaho Falls, ID. Tom had three grandsons, Jason, Jared, and Jack. He also had many greatly loved nieces and nephews.
