Shawn James Smith
October 24th, 2003 - May 3rd, 2026
Shawn James Smith, age 22, passed away on May 3, 2026, leaving behind family and friends who loved him deeply and will carry his memory forever.
Shawn was a man of many talents, passions, and interests. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science and was always curious about technology and the world around him. He had an adventurous spirit and loved traveling, camping, and exploring new places. Whether he was under the stars around a campfire he had built using flint and steel, on the road to a new destination, or standing in a crowd at a concert where he knew every lyric to every song, Shawn embraced life with enthusiasm and an open heart.
Music was one of Shawn’s greatest loves. He appreciated all genres and found joy, connection, and meaning in the songs and artists that accompanied him throughout his life. Concerts were more than events to him—they were experiences he treasured.
Shawn was also deeply artistic. He had a creative soul and a love for graffiti and artistic expression. He saw beauty where others might not and left his own unique mark on the world through his creativity.
Anyone who knew Shawn remembers his contagious laugh and incredible sense of humor. He was our own Robin Williams. He had a gift for making people smile and laugh, lighting up a room with his presence, and creating moments of joy that will be remembered for years to come.
Above all else, Shawn loved his family. He adored his niece and four nephews – who referred to Shawn as “Uncle Cracker,” and cherished the bond he shared with his sisters and brother. He loved fiercely and completely. Those fortunate enough to know him experienced his unwavering loyalty, protective nature, and generous heart. He was the kind of friend who showed up when needed, stood up for those he cared about, and remained steadfast to his convictions. Shawn loved hard, and that love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Shawn was welcomed into Heaven by his maternal and paternal grandmothers, whose loving embrace now surrounds him once again.
He is survived by his mother, Melanie Smith; his siblings, Saleena Smith, M. Holland Smith, Cera (Michael) Molder; his beloved niece, Scarlett; four cherished nephews, Reagan, TJ, Thorin and Kili; and countless family members and friends whose lives were forever changed by knowing him.
Shawn’s life cannot be measured by the years he lived, but by the love he gave, the memories he created, and the lives he touched. His absence leaves an immeasurable void, but his spirit lives on in the stories, laughter, music, art, and love he shared with those who knew him.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
