IDAHO FALLS — Three musicians from three different generations have found common ground in a shared love of country music.

Together, they make up Three Jacks, an east Idaho trio whose set list spans decades from classic country favorites of the 1950s and 1960s to modern artists like Zac Brown Band and Ryan Tyler, with plenty of southern country rock and crowd favorites in between.

The Idaho Falls-based band, which has been performing together for about two years, features 20-something singer-songwriter Gus Hanosky, 30-something Kyle Deady and 40-something Ryan Christensen.

While each member brings experience from other local bands and musical projects, Three Jacks has carved out its own identity with a unique approach to performing.

Unlike many three-piece bands, both Deady and Hanosky switch between guitar and bass while sharing lead vocal duties, allowing the trio to change both its sound and stage dynamic throughout a performance.

Christensen, who is the band’s drummer, said, “It’s something that keeps our shows fresh. We often completely swap who’s singing and who’s playing guitar or bass.”

Christensen has been part of the east Idaho music scene for years, having founded the band OutWest, which gave singer Andrea Alonzo, of Idaho Falls, her start. She is now pursuing a career in Nashville. Christensen has also backed many other local artists, including popular musician Keagan Park.

“Idaho Falls has a great, tight-knit music scene,” Christensen said.

Deady grew up listening to his father play guitar and would sneak into the garage to listen to his father’s CD collection while he was at work.

“I got hooked on the Eagles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen at a young age,” he said.

Deady said he started writing music at 19 to impress a girl who later became his wife.

“I’ve been playing music off and on with different groups since 2012 and also started a band called Pioneer Street with four of my nine kids in 2024,” he said.

Idaho Falls native (Gus) Hanosky started performing live at 21 and currently performs both solo and with Three Jacks.

“I started playing guitar at the age of 17 with a love of old country music like Waylon Jennings,” he said.

Three Jacks has been keeping audiences entertained across east Idaho this summer, and the band still has several performances on the calendar.
