Applications open for volunteers, performers ahead of Salt Lake Temple Celebration

SALT LAKE CITY — Applications are now open for volunteers, performers, artists and guides who want to take part in the Salt Lake Temple Celebration following the historic renovation of the Salt Lake Temple and Temple Square.
The celebration, organized by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will run from April 5 through Oct. 1, 2027, and is expected to welcome visitors from around the world. Music, dance, storytelling and personal interactions will be used throughout the event to teach guests about Jesus Christ, faith and the purpose of temples.
A wide variety of opportunities are available, including both volunteer and paid positions.
Volunteers ages 16 and older can apply to welcome visitors, answer questions, guide guests through exhibits or work behind the scenes. Assignments will be available throughout Temple Square, including the Conference Center, Tabernacle, Assembly Hall and Joseph Smith Memorial Building.
The Church says it has also expanded its scheduling options for volunteers. Most assignments will involve one three- to four-hour shift each week for eight weeks, although accommodations may be available for those unable to commit to the entire period.
Performing groups are also being sought. Vocal and instrumental ensembles, cultural and folk groups, school organizations and other groups of four to 100 people can apply to present 30-minute performances during the celebration. Performers must be at least 8 years old, and selected groups could perform one or more times between April and September.
Artists, including painters, sculptors, illustrators, glass blowers and chalk artists, are also invited to apply, along with people interested in serving as Church History Museum guides and educators.
There are paid opportunities as well. Professional singers, dancers, instrumentalists and storytellers between 18 and 35 can audition for a full-time performance troupe that will work from February through October 2027. The Church is also hiring professional Temple Square guides to assist visitors throughout the celebration.
The Salt Lake Temple has been undergoing an extensive renovation since December 2019, including seismic upgrades and major changes throughout Temple Square. The 2027 celebration will give visitors an opportunity to experience the renovated temple and surrounding grounds while learning more about the building’s history and religious significance.
