D91 elementary school will be closed Wednesday, district officials say

IDAHO FALLS — Classes are canceled at a District 91 school on Wednesday due to “air temperature issues,” the district says.
Administrators made the decision to close Ethel Boyes Elementary School, 1875 Brentwood Drive in Idaho Falls, following repairs to the building’s air conditioning system on Tuesday, according to a statement from Superintendent Karla LaOrange.
“The repair must cure for 24 hours before the system will function as normal,” LaOrange explained.
Without air conditioning, the statement says temperatures in the building could rise higher than 85 degrees Fahrenheit.
“We recognize that it is unreasonable to expect our students and teachers to have an effective learning day in the building at those temperatures,” LaOrange said.
No other schools in the district are scheduled to be closed on Wednesday, and students at Ethel Boyes are expected to return to class on Thursday.
