More Salt Lake Temple open house tickets coming after 1 million reservations are claimed

SALT LAKE CITY — Additional tickets for the Salt Lake Temple open house will be released after the first 1 million reservations were claimed in less than 24 hours.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that two additional batches of reservations will become available Sept. 15 and Oct. 1. Both will be released at 6 p.m. MDT.
Church officials said the staggered releases are part of a plan to accommodate as many visitors as possible during the highly anticipated reopening of the historic temple.
The open house will give the public an opportunity to walk through the Salt Lake Temple before it is dedicated and once again reserved for Latter-day Saints participating in temple worship.
Church leaders say the experience is intended to focus not only on the extensively renovated building but also on Jesus Christ and the role temples play in the faith.
“This is more than touring a building — a remarkable building,” Primary General President Rosemary K. Chibota said in a news release. “It is about coming closer to Jesus Christ. It is about feeling God’s love for us and remembering that all of us are beloved children of our Heavenly Father.”
The open house is part of the six-month Salt Lake Temple Celebration, themed “Rejoice in Christ,” which will run from April 5 through Oct. 1, 2027. Events will include exhibits, performances, films, service opportunities and other activities.
People unable to travel to Salt Lake City will also be able to participate through online resources and a virtual tour of the temple.
