Bonneville County woman accused of nearly hitting three people with a car

IDAHO FALLS — A Bonneville County woman was arrested after she allegedly nearly struck three people with a vehicle after a brief argument.
Selena Marie Guinn, 22, has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to police documents, the three victims had been at WinCo when Guinn’s acquaintance, who allegedly appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, approached. Guinn’s acquaintance had reportedly mistaken one of the victims for a friend, and after being corrected, refused to leave the victims alone.
After leaving the store, Guinn’s acquaintance got into the driver’s seat of a Camaro, reportedly told Guinn he was “not OK to drive,” and switched seats.
With Guinn in the driver’s seat, Guinn and her acquaintance remained in the parking lot for several minutes before Guinn allegedly sped the vehicle toward the three victims. Court documents alleged one of the three victims was barely able to avoid being hit.
Guinn was pulled over by deputies with the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office after leaving the WinCo and allegedly admitted to law enforcement that she had consumed alcohol before driving the Camaro, court documents state. She reportedly told deputies that she had not seen the three victims until she almost struck them and allegedly tried to change the subject when asked about nearly hitting the victims.
Guinn also reportedly told law enforcement that her acquaintance had wanted to fight the victim who was nearly struck, and Guinn had to talk him out of it.
After reviewing WinCo surveillance footage, deputies placed her under arrest and transported to Bonneville County Jail for booking.
If found guilty of the charges, Guinn may face up to 15 years of confinement and be required to pay fines of up to $15,000.
Guinn has been appointed a public defender. The Idaho State Public Defender’s Office does not comment on open cases.
Guinn is set to appear in court Sept. 22 for a preliminary hearing.
Although Guinn has been accused of a crime, that does not necessarily mean she committed it. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
