Car crashes through fence near railroad tracks, triggers second crash on US Highway 20

IDAHO FALLS — A vehicle went through a fence and came to rest near railroad tracks off U.S. Highway 20 Thursday, and another driver was hospitalized after a second crash near the scene.
The first crash happened in the eastbound lanes near mile marker 313 in Idaho Falls, according to Idaho State Police.
A 25-year-old Rigby man was driving a 2017 Audi A4 when the car went off the road, traveled through a fence and stopped near the railroad tracks. A tow truck was called to remove the Audi.
As emergency crews were working in the area, a 34-year-old Rexburg woman driving a 2020 GMC Acadia slowed down and was rear-ended by a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 68-year-old Idaho Falls woman.
The driver of the GMC was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Her condition was not released.
Idaho State police says all three drivers were wearing seatbelts.
The crashes remain under investigation.
