Police confirm man who jumped in Snake River is dead

UPDATE 7 P.M.
Idaho Falls Police Department spokeswoman Jessica Clements confirms the man is dead and that it was a suicide.
Authorities are still working to notify the man’s family, so his name is not being released yet.

IDAHO FALLS – A man who jumped into the Snake River in Idaho Falls Monday afternoon is now in the hospital.
Sgt. Bryan Lovell with the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office tells EastIdahoNews.com it happened around 5:20 p.m. The man, who deputies are still trying to identify, reportedly jumped in the river near Quality Inn at 525 River Parkway.
Details about the man’s motives are unclear.
Witnesses reported seeing search and rescue crews pulling out an unconscious man and performing “aggressive CPR.” Pictures sent to EastIdahoNews.com show a dismembered prosthetic leg on scene.
Lovell does not know the man’s condition, but says an ambulance crew took him to the hospital.
