Dale Jay Jensen

Dale Jay Jensen, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 21, 2026, at his home. He was under the care of Oakstone Hospice.

Dale was born March 12, 1940, in Idaho Falls, ID, to Andrew J. Jensen and Eddis Rounds Jensen. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. Later, he attended the Utah State University and was working towards a drafting degree.

On April 13, 1960, he married Gayla Jean Earl in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together, they had three children, Steve, Tamera, and Sandra. They enjoyed marriage for 46 years until Gayla passed away on April 26, 2006. They made their home in Idaho Falls, ID where Dale was a farmer. While farming part time with his father, he also worked for 11 years full time at Argonne National Laboratory; and designed and built farming machinery for Hallway, Inc. In 1970, he transitioned to full time farming and continued his career into his later years with his son and grandson. On January 3, 2015, he married Linda Porter in Idaho Falls, ID.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was active in his faith and held many callings. He served in the Bishopric and High Council in his home ward and stake, the Bishopric and High Council at BYU-I, and Temple Officiator in the Idaho Falls Temple. He enjoyed farming, traveling, his cabin in Island Park, being in nature, gardening, fishing, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, and spending time with his family.

Dale is survived by his wife, Linda Porter Jensen of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Steven Dale (LeAnn) Jensen of Idaho Falls, ID, daughter, Sandra Kaye (Kirt) Hillam of Providence, UT; son-in-law, Graig Ralph of Idaho Falls, ID; brothers, William “Bill” (Jana) Jensen of Idaho Falls, ID, Wayne (Ann-deceased) Jensen of Idaho Falls, ID, and Kent Jensen of Idaho Falls; 11 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. His step family includes five children; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Eddis Jensen; first wife, Gayla Jean Jensen; daughter, Tamera Jean Ralph; brother, Steven Max Jensen; sister, Kristy Jensen; and father and mother-in-law, Thayne & Lillian Earl.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2026, at Summerfield Ward, 3721 Shadow Mountain Trail. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue, and Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior at the church. Services will be broadcast live at www.woodfuneralhome.com. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.
