7 levels of heat: Popular chicken restaurant opening first eastern Idaho location

AMMON — A “mind-blowing chicken” fast-casual restaurant is coming to eastern Idaho and it offers seven spice levels, with one so hot that employees make you sign a waiver.
Dave’s Hot Chicken will be moving into 2698 East Sunnyside Road, Suite BC-1 in Ammon next to Roolee and Costa Vida. Construction workers have been on site throughout the week.
A sign outside the building says, “Coming Soon.” A representative told EastIdahoNews.com the store is slated to open in early December; however, that could change with construction.
According to Ammon City Administrator Micah Austin, the business has building permits and is remodeling the space. This was the previous location of Hokkaido Ramen House and Blaze Pizza.
The restaurant specializes in jumbo hot chicken tenders and sliders. The sides include house-made kale slaw, creamy mac n’ cheese, and crispy, seasoned French fries.
The menu offers seven spice levels, from no spice to reaper (which requires a signed waiver for those who dare, according to its website); each piece of juicy, hand-breaded chicken is spiced to order.
The website says the goal of the restaurant became clear, which was, “Make juicy, spicy, hot chicken that will ‘Blow Your Mind.'”
Dave’s Hot Chicken started in 2017 in a parking lot in East Hollywood by childhood friends. They had only $900, a couple of folding tables, and a portable fryer. Click here to learn more.
A representative told EastIdahoNews.com that it now has almost 400 locations nationwide. Ammon will be the fourth in Idaho. The other Idaho locations are Boise, Meridian, and Nampa.
In 2021, Drake, a Canadian rapper and singer, took notice of the fast-casual restaurant and became a significant investor in the concept, according to its website.
