Fight caught on video shows 20-year-old woman allegedly assaulting an adult and a minor

REXBURG — Court documents detail how a fight that was caught on camera allegedly shows a 20-year-old woman assaulting another woman and a minor near Poison Flat Trailhead near Ririe.
Kierstin Leann Morgan was charged with felony aggravated battery and a misdemeanor count of reckless driving.
A summons was issued for Morgan, and she is scheduled to appear for an initial appearance on Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. before Magistrate Judge David Hunt or Senior Judge James Howard Barrett Jr. According to the Idaho Crime Repository, no attorney has been assigned to Morgan. If a public defender is assigned to Morgan, the Idaho State Public Defender’s Office does not comment on active cases.

According to court documents, on May 25, a deputy with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of the Poison Flat Trailhead in response to a report of an assault.
Once there, the deputy spoke with the injured woman and described some of the injuries she had sustained.
The document lists the following:
- Swollen and discolored left eye.
- Discoloration and bleeding from under the right eye.
- A bloody nose and a deviated nasal septum, which will require surgery to fix.
- Significant swelling on the back of the head.
- Bite marks on the inner upper area of the right arm.
- Discoloration and scratch marks on the neck.
The video of the fight that was obtained by the deputy shows Morgan allegedly hitting and kicking the other woman while the other woman is holding Morgan. The deputy said the woman was trying to calm Morgan down.
The video later shows Morgan repeatedly punching a minor boy in the face. An adult male witness told the deputy that he was trying to separate the women during the fight, but was getting pushed away by Morgan.
The document states that multiple witnesses told the deputy that Morgan later drove through a fence near the trailhead entrance. Damage to the vehicle, which was registered to Morgan, was also confirmed.
Other witnesses also described walking down the trail to check on Morgan, but saw the vehicle begin moving toward them slowly. Despite this, the witnesses said that other individuals walking down the trail had to jump out of the way to avoid the vehicle.
Attempting to return to a campsite, the witnesses told the deputy that others had warned them not to walk up, as Morgan was “waiting for them.” However, once the witnesses reached the campsite, they never saw Morgan.
Although Morgan has been accused of a crime, that does not necessarily mean she committed it. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
