Caldwell woman killed in head-on crash near Boise, 3 others injured

BOISE – A Caldwell woman is dead and two other people were hospitalized following a head-on collision near Boise.
It happened Saturday just before 2 p.m. on State Highway 21 at milepost 84.9 east of Lowman, about 75 miles northeast of Boise, according to a news release from Idaho State Police.
Two vehicles were involved, a black 2020 Lexus GX460 and a gray 2020 Nissan Armada. A 40-year-old man from Boise, who police did not identify by name, was driving the Lexus. He and his passenger, a child under 18, were headed south on Highway 21. Meanwhile, a 40-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, both from Caldwell — whose names were also not specified — were headed north on Highway 21.
Police say the driver of the Lexus crossed the center line, which caused both vehicles to swerve into the southbound lanes to avoid a collision. Instead, they collided head-on.
Although everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt, the woman in the Nissan died at the scene. The driver and the two people in the Lexus were injured. Police do not specify the extent of their injuries in the release, but they were airlifted to a hospital.
The highway was blocked for about five hours while emergency responders were on scene cleaning up the wreckage.
