Man with active warrant on run after Salmon traffic stop

SALMON — Officers are asking the public to help locate a man who sped from police during a traffic stop.
The Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office is looking for Scott Collins, 59, of Crook County, Oregon, according to a news release.
Deputies say Collins is 5’1″, 165 pounds with an athletic build, bald, has green eyes, and may or may not have a white goatee.
According to police, Collins has an active warrant out of Oregon. Court records from Crook County list various charges on the warrant, stemming from an incident on May 4:
- Taking wildlife or angling illegally (misdemeanor)
- Boat operator fleeing or attempting to elude (misdemeanor)
- Escape in the third degree (misdemeanor)
- Reckless driving (misdemeanor)
- Criminal driving while suspended or revoked (felony)
- Fleeing a police officer (felony)
On Saturday evening, a Salmon Police Department officer tried to conduct a traffic stop on a black pickup truck with Oregon plates on Main Street.
The truck reportedly accelerated to get away from the officer. The pursuit continued south on U.S. Highway 93, but was later terminated.
The truck and a campsite were later found on Perreau Creek Road.
The area was searched by the Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office, the Salmon Police Department, Idaho Fish and Game, and Idaho State Police.
Collins was not found in the area, and the pickup was seized as evidence. It is unknown whether Collins is still in the area or armed.
Law enforcement asks that residents secure their homes, outbuildings and vehicles when not at home.
