Stacey Elizabeth Mitchell, 49, of Monteview, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at her home.

Stacey was born on February 1, 1977, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was the third child and third daughter born to Brice and Sherrie Michell. She grew up on the family farm in Monteview with her two older sisters. Stacey had many happy times farming with her sisters, laughing, and making silly waves as they worked in the fields together.

Active and curious, she earned the nickname “Bug” because of her constant questions. She wanted answers, and her curiosity to explore and learn was a lifelong trait. Always up for an adventure, she was happiest when trying something new, whether a recipe, a craft, or a road trip. She could turn an ordinary piece of paper into a pop-up card, or any flower you could think of. Many friends received her special cards. She enjoyed traveling to the Southwest with her parents and loved the desert.

She loved her family and was a doting “Aunt Bug” for her niece and nephews. She loved helping them with holiday celebrations, teasing and teaching them. She was a stickler for beautiful manners, and woe be to the one who forgot. She was their confidante, the head shenanigans planner, and altogether a fun person to have around. As much as she loved them, she longed to be a Mama herself.

She married Geronimo Ivarra on April 1, a date they chose with great glee; it suited them so well. On November 2, 2019, at the age of 42, she was beyond excited, delighted, shocked, and perhaps a little nervous when Skye Sherrie Alise Mitchell Ivarra was born, making her dream come true. Stacey was an adoring Mama Bear among Mama bears. Fierce and very protective, and so very, very proud and loving, she taught Skye to be curious and kind; they spent many hours coloring and reading with her, always ready to drop everything to watch Skye show off dance moves, sing songs, and play with her dolls.

She had hoped to raise her daughter, but it wasn’t to be; she left far too soon, due to several chronic diseases. She was a member of Mud Lake Community Church.

She leaves her precious daughter, Skye; her loving husband, Geronimo; parents, Brice and Sherrie; sisters, Melanie and Emily; niece, Kylee; nephews, Austin, Krayton, Kenny, and Wyatt; and her father-in-law, Joe Ivarra.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Warren and Dorothy Mitchell, Bob and Carol Hatfield; grandfather, Kenneth Phippen; her beloved nephew, Stetson Mitchell; her dear friend, Heather Harkness; and her mother-in-law, Racheal Ivarra.

At her request, a very short, simple, and casual graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, October 16, 2026, at the West Jefferson Memorial Cemetery, 1224 East 1500 North, Terreton, Idaho.
