Ila Thompson

Our mother and grandma, Ila Irene Thompson, born to Warren and Merna Ferrin, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2026, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, at the age of 86.

Ila married Kent W. Anderson in 1959, and together they welcomed four wonderful children: Christine (Len) Izatt of Idaho Falls, ID; David (Teresa) Anderson of Shelley, ID; Brian (Laura) Anderson of West Point, UT; and Tim (Lori) Anderson of Surprise, AZ.

In 1976, Ila married Kim D. Thompson, and with that union, her family grew even larger as she welcomed five step-children: Peggy (John) Robertson of Bountiful, UT; Charles Kim (Jill) Thompson of Bountiful, UT: Kirk S. (Marcia) Thompson of North Salt Lake, UT; Sharlynn Thompson of Bountiful, UT; and A. Richard (Jozlyn) Thompson of Ammon, ID.

Ila is survived by her 9 children, 21 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Gary (Tanna) Ferrin of South Jordan, UT; and her dearest cousin, Carol Hurley of Ammon. ID.

Ila, a true artist at heart, spent her life creating beautiful and unique things. Whether painting, quilting, sewing, or exploring a new craft, her imagination brought countless treasures to life.

Ila cherished time spent with her family and friends. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who loved her.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, October 19, 2026, at Ammon Cemetery, 5226 East Sunnyside Road. The family will visit with friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road.
