IDAHO FALLS — A new coffee shop has come to town, but in this one, the employees are dressed in less than you may expect.

The area’s first known bikini barista coffee shop, Naughte Latte, recently opened, offering explicitly named menu items being served by women in lingerie.

The owner, Sofia Yanez, says opening a bikini coffee shop has been a dream of hers.

“It’s been roughly over a year since the idea has been in my head,” says Yanez. “And honestly, my husband is the one who pushed me to do it. He basically said, if this is something you want to do, then let’s do it.”

The trailer moves to different locations across town, but is often parked on Memorial Drive in front of the Bonneville County Courthouse.

Yanez says she was initially hesitant to open this kind of business, due to the area’s reputation for being more conservative.

“We have people that are super excited; they can’t believe that something like this is finally in the area,” says Yanez. “And we’ve gotten some interesting looks (that are) not so supportive.”

As for the feedback since their recent opening, Yanez says they’ve had all kinds of people stop by, and some even take a double-take driving down the road, who often turn around to make sure their eyes weren’t deceiving them.

“It’s something that draws people in, and obviously catches people’s eyes,” says Yanez. “Oftentimes, people think it’s for the male attention, but surprisingly, I have had more female customers than men.”

At the trailer, you can order items such as the “Dirty Little Berry,” a cranberry-vanilla energy drink, or the “Maple Sugar Daddy,” a brown sugar maple shaken espresso. After that, the names get a little more explicit and a bit unsafe for work.

For Yanez, this new business venture is a fun way for her and her employees to express their confidence and love for providing high-quality coffee.

“It’s a fun thing; it’s something that gets people laughing,” says Yanez. “Our menu items have catchy little names, and I think it’s just the fun aspect of it.”

Yanez does not see the business as a sexual venture and hopes that the area can soon embrace the idea and other, more open-minded shops.

“In my opinion, it’s not so much a sexual (thing),” says Yanez. “I guess for Idaho, it could be considered a little bit more on the risky side, but compared to other states, we are on the lower end of things in terms of what we dress; we are a little bit more covered up.”

As for security measures, the shop is equipped with 24-hour security cameras and a no-recording-or-photo-taking policy. Yanez and her employee asked that we not share photos of them working in this article.

“We have families that come through here; we have kids that come through here,” says Yanez. “Kids who want to take pictures with the pretty girls.”

Yanez says the work makes her feel empowered, and that she hopes to create a safe environment for anyone who stops by.

“We understand where we’re at, and we want to keep it a little bit more on the respectful side,” says Yanez. “Being a woman-owner and it being a woman-based environment … I’ve had a lot of positivity and a lot of love from women. So it definitely feels good.”

For anyone who might feel uncomfortable with the idea, Yanez says everyone is welcome, but that she understands that the experience isn’t for everybody.

“Every business has its audience, and that’s okay. You’re not obligated to come and visit us,” says Yanez. “We’d love to see everybody, and for everybody to come experience it, and if it’s not for them, that’s absolutely okay. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and their thoughts on it.”

Why should you visit Naughte Latte instead of a name-brand cafe? For the bikini baristas, the draw is in the vibes.

“It’s a different environment. It’s not just Starbucks, it’s not just Dutch Bros, it’s not just any of these other coffee shops,” says Yanez. “It’s something fun, and it’s something different.”
