POCATELLO — The holidays don’t have to derail one’s health and fitness goals. That’s the message behind a free wellness event coming to Pocatello.

“Thrive Through the Holidays,” featuring celebrity nutritionist and New York Times bestselling author Mark Macdonald, will take place Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Elevate Fitness in the Westwood Mall, 1800 Garrett Way.

The event will cover wellness topics including nutrition, metabolism, gut health, sleep, stress management, and hormonal balance, with an emphasis on practical ways to stay healthy during the busy holiday season.

Macdonald, founder of Venice Nutrition and co-founder of the PFC3 100 Days of 1% nutrition program, previously served as a nutrition expert for CNN and HLN and hosted his own nutrition television show. He has also appeared on national programs, including “Dr. Oz” and “Tamron Hall.”

He is currently touring the country to promote a wellness approach that emphasizes drug-free strategies and encourages people to take a more proactive role in their health.

During his Pocatello appearance, Macdonald will share advice on making healthier choices while still enjoying the season’s foods, festivities, and traditions.

Pocatello fitness and nutrition expert Nicolle Clay, founder of NicFit Fitness & Nutrition and an event organizer instrumental in bringing Macdonald to Pocatello, will also speak.

Participants will learn about the connections between gut health, metabolism, sleep, stress and the nervous system, along with simple strategies to incorporate into everyday life.

In addition to the presentations, attendees will have opportunities to receive giveaways, including wellness-related neurotechnology, personal training sessions, body scans, fitness punch passes and T-shirts.

“We’ll be giving away some of that neuro tech that night along with training sessions, body scans, punch passes and T-shirts. You definitely want to be here,” Clay said.

Event organizer Connie Irick said the goal is to help participants enjoy the holiday season while maintaining the healthy habits they’ve worked to develop.

“We want people to thrive through the holidays and continue on with their health and fitness goals or at least maintain so they don’t have to start all over in January,” Irick said.

“Thrive Through the Holidays” is being presented through a partnership involving Macdonald, NicFit Fitness & Nutrition, Diane Gaunt Coaching and Elevate Fitness Pocatello.

While this event is free and open to the public, advanced registration is required because seating is limited.
