IDAHO FALLS — A cow that had escaped during the night was caught on camera wandering through Idaho Falls over the weekend.

The incident took place during the night of Oct. 24 and into the early morning hours of Oct. 25, according to Bonneville County Sheriff’s Sgt. Bryan Lovell. He said a herd of cows escaped from a feedlot on 49th North, between 15th and 25th East.

Lovell said they got most of the cows rounded up but mentioned they were scattered all over.

Jessica Clements, spokeswoman for the Idaho Falls Police Department, said one calf made it into Idaho Falls. The animal was first reported near Napa Auto Parts and eventually made its way to a residence on Saturn.

Videos shared on Idaho Falls Facebook pages show the cow walking down the road, on a sidewalk, and through intersections. In one video taken near Saturn and Broadway in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Idaho Falls Police and Idaho State Police vehicles are seen attempting to stop the cow from wandering farther.

Clements said officers escorted the animal through town to make sure it didn’t get hit. Around 11:40 a.m., they had contained the animal, and one of the owner’s employees came out, roped it, and it was loaded into a trailer and taken home.
