IDAHO FALLS — For Angela and PJ Estrada, a good cup of coffee is about more than what’s in the mug. It’s about bringing people together, and they’re hoping their new Idaho Falls coffee shop will do just that.

The couple opened Justified Coffee + Company at 3630 South 25th East, Ste. 10 in Idaho Falls on Oct. 5. Since the grand opening, they say the turnout has been tremendous and they’re overwhelmed with the amount of support.

The pair moved to Idaho in August 2025 from Washington, where they worked in various coffee-industry roles.

Angela owned and worked at a coffee shop with a family member right before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. She said they managed to run a successful store during a turbulent time.

“We learned how to make a space or a place where people could come to kind of be like an escape from the craziness going on all around,” Angela said.

She said one of her favorite aspects of owning a coffee shop was interacting with customers and being part of their lives by offering a good cup of coffee or a good meal.

Her husband, PJ, found his love of coffee while serving in the Army, and later fixing espresso machines.

PJ’s love of tinkering started young; when he bought his first machine and it wasn’t working, he found a way to get it up and running.

He’s traveled across Washington for the last eight years servicing machines for various coffee shops.

After moving to Idaho, one thing they both missed was the accessibility of coffee culture in eastern Idaho.

“We wanted to bring some of that … joy that it brought to our lives on a daily basis,” Angela said.

The pair began working on Justified Coffee last year, designing and building it together. PJ made many of the store’s metal components, including the tables and cabinets.

The menu items combined what PJ and Angela love about coffee. PJ describes it as a more traditional coffee shop, offering brew that highlights a variety of flavors.

Many of the food items come from Angela’s previous coffee shop, like the second breakfast sandwich or their turkey pesto panini sandwich.

“Everything on the menu has been … specifically picked to have an elevated experience,” Angela said.

When it came to naming the new coffee shop, PJ said the word Justified immediately came to mind. It comes from a sermon he heard 12 years ago from evangelist and preacher Andrew Wommack. In that sermon, PJ recalled Wommack saying we were “justified in Christ,” and that Christ would see us “just as if I’d never sinned.”

“The meaning behind it really stuck with me, and I told myself if I ever open a business, I’m going to name it Justified,” PJ said.

Angela said the word also signified their journey to this point. The two have dealt with a lot of heartache in the past, but putting their faith in God and each other turned their lives around.

“Life is better than what we ever thought it would be after the things (we went) through,” PJ said.

“We plan to be here for a long time … and continue to be a part of people’s lives on a daily basis,” Angela added.

Justified Coffee is open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
