ABERDEEN — Charges against a local man have been dismissed after he was accused of attempting to run over a homeowner after a dispute arose.

Jordan Christopher Gehring was charged with felony aggravated assault and a deadly weapons enhancement on Sept. 23, and the charges were dismissed on Oct. 14.

According to court documents, Bingham Prosecutor Ryan Jolley filed a motion to dismiss the charges against Gehring, arguing that “the evidence does not substantiate the charge.”

In a statement sent to EastIdahoNews.com from Gehring’s attorney, Jeffrey L. Thomason, his client has consistently denied trying to strike the homeowner with his pickup and maintains that the charges against him were false.

Thomason commends Jolley for dismissing the charges against his client after reviewing the evidence.

“Protecting a citizen from charges that the evidence does not support serves the public every bit as much as securing a conviction that is supported by the evidence,” Thomason stated. “Jordan is a husband, father, and local farmer whose family and business relationships were affected by the publicity.”
