SALT LAKE CITY — Two beloved Christian hymns, “Be Thou My Vision” and “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” are among eight new selections released by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for its forthcoming hymnbook.

The new music is part of the Church’s ongoing effort to create a collection that reflects its worldwide membership while strengthening faith in Jesus Christ. The songs are now available in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French through the Gospel Library app.

With the latest announcement, 90 hymns and songs have been released as part of the project. The new hymnbook, titled Hymns for Home and Church, is expected to be published in late 2027.

The eight new hymns and songs are:

  1. Be Thou My Vision – A beloved medieval Irish hymn that many Latter-day Saints hoped would be included in the new collection.
  2. Our Savior Brings Us Joy – A popular hymn in African nations.
  3. Jesus Is the Strength of Youth – A new youth anthem emphasizing that the Savior’s strength is available to everyone.
  4. How I Love the House of God – A temple-focused hymn written by Tabernacle Choir music director Mack Wilberg and author David Warner.
  5. God’s Armor – A children’s song written by a Swedish songwriter.
  6. Seek Peace – A song for all ages about finding peace through Jesus Christ and striving to become peacemakers.
  7. O Come, O Come, Emmanuel – A traditional Advent hymn often sung in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
  8. A Quiet Night – A new Christmas song designed to help children learn about the birth of Jesus Christ.

The Church also unveiled the official cover of the new hymnbook, marking another milestone in its development. Printing is underway, with 394 hymns and children’s songs planned for the printed edition. Additional selections will be available digitally through the Gospel Library and online.

The latest release also includes music from earlier batches translated into 13 additional languages, including Armenian, Cebuano, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malagasy, Russian, Samoan, Tagalog, Tongan and Vietnamese.
