The following is a news release from Idaho State Police.
IDAHO FALLS – The Idaho State Police (ISP) will officially open its new District 6 office in Idaho Falls on Nov. 4, bringing patrol and investigations personnel under one roof and providing expanded space for training, equipment, and future needs.
Located at 1155 Foote Drive, the facility includes about 24,000 square feet of workspace, plus additional areas for training and storage. Permanent training mats and an indoor firearms simulator will support year-round training, while the facility can store trailers, specialized equipment, and other resources indoors and protect them from eastern Idaho weather.
Planning for the facility began about three years ago, and construction began in spring 2025.
“This facility represents years of planning and work by people within Idaho State Police, our state partners, and through support of the legislature,” ISP Director Colonel Bill Gardiner said. “It provides our employees with the space and resources they need and prepares District 6 for the future. Most importantly, it strengthens our ability to serve communities across eastern Idaho.”
Approximately 26 troopers and eight detectives will work from the same location. District 6 is the final ISP district to consolidate patrol and investigations into one facility. The move is expected to save taxpayers about $100,000 annually in separate leased office costs.
“Our troopers and detectives have always worked closely together, but there is a real benefit to having everyone in the same place,” District 6 Captain Chris Weadick said. “It makes it easier to communicate, share information, and solve problems together. That matters when our people are responding across a large part of eastern Idaho.”
For Weadick, the building also gives employees a workplace designed around the demands of their jobs.
“Our people spend a lot of time away from the office serving communities across eastern Idaho,” Weadick said. “When they come back, they need a place where they can train, work with each other, take care of their equipment, and be ready for what comes next. This building gives them that. Investing in our people helps them provide the level of service Idahoans expect.”
The nearly $17 million project was funded through the Permanent Building Fund.
NBW Architects designed the facility, and Bateman-Hall served as the general contractor.
