Tax Tip: Tax Season Is Never Over

GETTY 4114 1040Form? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1396352034299Drazen_/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — If you just finished your 2013 taxes, you’re probably ready to put your feet up for another 12 months.

But hold on, says tax accountant Janice Hayman. Now that you have taxes on the brain, it’s a good time to look forward.

“Go ahead and set those file folders up, even if they’re virtual folders on your computer, set them up and start saving 2014 documents,” she says.

It’s also handy to set up a schedule, like when you pay your monthly bills, to file your tax receipts.

“It’s so much easier to do this on a weekly or monthly basis, then it’s not the bear at the end of the year to go through everything,” Hayman tells ABC News Radio.

If you’re wondering what you should save, tax expert Kevin McCormally with Kiplinger’s Personal Finance puts it this way: “Anything that affects your money might affect your taxes.”

And since two out of three people get a refund, if you’re all ready to go earlier next year, you’ll get your money back that much sooner.
