The University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication announced Wednesday that the shows are among a record 46 recipients of the 73rd Annual Peabody Awards, which honors excellence in electronic media.

The awards were announced on CBS This Morning by journalists Ira Glass and Charlayne Hunter-Gault.

“The quality of storytelling in electronic media continues to increase year after year, across platforms, producing organizations and nations. The unprecedented number of awards we gave this year reflects this fact,” Dr. Jeffrey P. Jones, director of the Peabody Awards, said in announcing the winners. “There simply are a larger number of stories that deserve our attention as citizens and consumers. And what a wonderfully rich and satisfying set of stories we’ve called attention to this year!”

Other winners include the FX series The Bridge, along with CNN’s Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown and HBO’s Six by Sondheim. NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw also won a personal award in honor of his journalism career.

The recipients will be presented with their Peabody Awards at a May 19 ceremony at New York City’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel. For a complete list of winners, visit the Peabody Awards website.
