Report: Divorced, Remarried Woman Can Have Communion, Pope Says

Pope Francis has reportedly phoned a divorced and remarried Catholic woman in Argentina to tell her that she could “safely receive Communion.”

Italian news media report the pope called Jacquleina Sabetta in response to a letter she had written to him.

Catholic doctrine dictates that divorced people can receive communion, but divorced and remarried people cannot.

The pope apparently told her the issue is under discussion.

The Vatican said it neither confirms nor denies the call.
