In Loving Memory of Amatha T. Edwards

Amatha T. Edwards, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home on April 13, 2026, at the age of 66.

She was born on January 4, 1960, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Elias G. and Marcela Torrez. Amatha spent her early years in Firth, where she attended elementary school, later continuing her education at Eastern Idaho Technical College.

From a young age, she embodied the true meaning of hard work and resilience. Whether laboring in the fields as a migrant worker or dedicating herself to long days in potato warehouses, production lines, and hospitality roles, Amatha approached every chapter of her life with determination and grace. Yet beyond her tireless work ethic, it was her radiant spirit, her vibrant energy, and her generous heart that left an unforgettable impression on everyone she met.

In 1976, Amatha met a young man who would change her life forever. What began as a simple meeting grew into a lifelong love story. On August 4, 1977, she married Jeffery Edwards—her hero and her steadfast companion. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised four sons: Dan, Brad, Christopher, and David, who became the pride and joy of her life.

Amatha found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She had a gift for nurturing life, reflected in her love for plants and flowers—her green thumb bringing beauty wherever she went. She enjoyed crafting, gathering with family and friends, and creating memories filled with laughter and love. Above all, her greatest joy was her grandchildren. Though she worked hard throughout her life, she was blessed with the opportunity to retire early, allowing her to devote precious time to caring for and watching her grandchildren grow. She embraced this role wholeheartedly, wearing it as a badge of honor and pride.

Amatha was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jeffery Edwards; her son, Brad; her parents, Elias and Marcela; and her siblings, John, Bobby, Jose, Toni, Elias Jr., and Merlinda. We take comfort in knowing she was welcomed into heaven with open arms.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, carried on by her sons: Daniel of Quitman, GA; Christopher (Crystal) of Basalt, ID; and David (Justin) of Frederick, CO; her sister Corina Kramer (Todd) of Longmont, CO; her cherished 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whom she loved as family.

Amatha’s presence was a gift to all who knew her. Her warmth, laughter, and unwavering love will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

With heartfelt gratitude, the family extends their sincere thanks to all who have offered support, prayers, visits, calls, cards, floral arrangements, and expressions of sympathy during this time of loss. Your kindness has brought comfort beyond measure.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2026 at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W Oak Street in Shelley. The family will receive friends Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. till 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.nalderfuneralhome.com.
