Carol Levin Ossmen, of Lewisville, Idaho, age 92, passed on May 16, 2024 at the Wildflower Memory Care Unit in Rigby, Idaho.

She died of natural causes, but sadly, she did develop Alzheimer’s/dementia in 2021 — thus the move from her home in Lewisville in January 2022 to the Wildflower in Rigby.

Carol was born in Ririe, Idaho on January 16, 1932 to Wilford and Agnes Cook Levin. She was born at her Aunt Edna Ririe’s home. She grew up in Coltman and Roberts, Idaho, with her brother Boyd. She met Arthur Ossmen early in 1950, and they were married November 24, 1950. She was a “war bride” as Art had been drafted to the Korean War. After he returned home from the war, they traveled a little then started their family. They had five children, nine grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

They moved around a few times during their marriage, living in Roberts, then moving to Swan Valley, then to Blackfoot. Back to Roberts, and Finally to Lewisville in 1965 where both she and Art were working at Idahoan Foods. Carol lived in the home in Lewisville until she became unable to take care of it herself. Carol loved to sing and would sing at any event she was asked to participate in. She sang with the “Chansonettes” Women’s Choir for many years and at many church events in Lewisville.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and in her mid-to-later years became very active. She served in the Primary, Young Women’s, and Relief Society. Carol also got very involved in Genealogy and served a mission doing genealogy for the church focusing on the Swedish genealogy mission.

Carol also loved to read! She enjoyed quilting and hand-quilted “pieced” quilts for people from all over the United States. She also helped in the in the Lewisville Precinct as an election clerk.

She is preceded in death by her parents Bill and Agnes Levin; her husband Arthur Ossmen; brother Boyd Levin; daughter Lalani Smith; and grandson Christoper Ray Ossmen. Carol is survived by four of her children and son-in-law; Leslie (Danny) Eck of Ashton, Linda Ward of Lewisville, Douglas Ossmen of Menan; David Ossmen of Lewisville; and son in law J.C. Smith of Jensen Beach, Florda; eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Carol will be held on Tuesday May 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Lewisville LDS Chapel (101 E Main Street Lewisville ID 83431), with a viewing held that morning from 9:30- 10:45. Interment will follow the funeral service at Grant Central Cemetery. A luncheon will be served back at the church after the interment, courtesy of the Lewisville 1st Ward Relief Society.
