Douglas Denning

Douglas Eames Denning, 74, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 6, 2024, at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho, from complications due to surgery.

Doug was born November 2, 1949, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Edward Jay Denning and Edna Geddes Eames Denning. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and later received his GED.

In 1968, he married Vicky Mountz. They were later divorced in 1981. He married Bonnie Taylor in 1994, and they were later divorced in 2017. Doug made his home in Idaho Falls where he worked as a Glazer for Valley Glass for 33 years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and the outdoors, but above all, he was a wonderful father to his children. He showed his love by always providing, always being present, never judging, and even to the death, staying strong. If the world could only have more fathers like Doug…

Doug is survived by his son, Robert “Robby” (Jodi) Denning of Iona, ID; daughter, Tamara “Tami” (Todd) Washburn of Belgrade, MT; step-daughter, Hollie (Phil) Harris of Boise, ID; step-daughter, Katie Taylor of Idaho Falls, ID; step-son, Casey Taylor of Ririe, ID; brother, Edward Denning, Jr. of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Lynne (Rodney) Bryan of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Mark (Connie) Denning of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Robyn (Craig) Hansen of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Merri Mickulin of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Jill (Kelly) Liljenquist of Scottsdale, AZ; brother, Scott (Karla) Denning of Rigby, ID; 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild.’

He was preceded in death by his parents and stillborn brother, Richard Denning.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends Monday from 6:30-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services, both visitations at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery along side his parents.
