Jason Gail Mooney was born April 6, 1976, (against medical advice) to Nora Harris and Wallace Mooney. The miracle of Jason’s birth led to a life of adventure that was filled with love and laughter. He was the life of the party and an instant friend to everyone he met.

Jason graduated from Granger High School in West Valley, UT, in 1994. Jason’s first job was with Abbot Critical Care Systems where he was able to work with his mother Nora and his uncle Tim. He received awards for his excellent attendance and performance. He went on to obtain his CDL and drove truck for American Excelsior and Reynolds Brother’s Excavating in Utah. When Jason moved to Idaho Falls he began working for the City of Idaho Falls. He was a key member of the Street Department for 23 years. He loved his job and was known for his surgical like skills with heavy equipment. His coworkers became more like family and he had many amazing times with them both at work and at play.

Jason was a proud father to his two children, Alex and Sydney, from his marriage to Wendy (Bodily) Black. Though the marriage didn’t last, their friendship and love for their children remained. Spending time with his children and their amazing partners, Becca and Nyomi, always put a big smile on his face.

Jason attempted marriage a handful of times before meeting the love of his life, Kris Ann Hansen, together they built a legacy of love and turned many dreams into reality, including building an amazing shop where most of their free time was spent working on the projects Jason was forever collecting. The shop became a hangout for many friends and neighbors.

Jason had a knack for repairing small engines which he turned into a side business and was known for being able to fix a lawnmower or snowblower in 30 minutes or less. He also loved to work on vehicles, especially Ford trucks and had many projects going at any given moment.

He was preceded in death by his mother Nora Harris, Uncles James Harris, Frank Harris and Tim Harris, and cousins Kristi Irving, Tiffanie Harris and Jeremy Harris.

Jason is survived by his children Alex Mooney and Sydney Mooney, fiancé Kris Ann Hansen, father Wallace Mooney, uncle Rick Harris, aunt Connie Roper, aunt Carol Mott and cousins who miss him dearly.

Jason despised formality and stuffiness and would really be ticked off if you showed up in a suit. Dress comfortably. The family encourages you to wear the most inappropriate T-Shirt that you are comfortable being seen in public with as Jason often did. Everybody has a Jason story and we’d love to hear them all.

A Celebration of Life for Jason will be held at the Elk’s Lodge (640 E Elva St) on Sunday, May 4th from 1:00 – 5:00 pm. Drinks are available and refreshments will be served.
