Jean P. Andersen

October 28th, 1932 - September 8th, 2020

Jean P. Andersen, 87, passed away September 8, 2020 in Moore, Idaho. Jean was born to Roy Curtis Pearson and Martha Evelyn Swasey on October 28, 1932 in Moore, Idaho. She graduated from Moore High School in 1950. She received her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from Rick’s College.

Jean married Jay Alvin Andersen, June 9, 1954 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were blessed with eight children. During their marriage they lived in the Lost River Valley also making stops along the way for Jay’s education in Pocatello and Moscow, Idaho. They made their home for 55 years on the farm in which all the children were raised.

Jean was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many of the auxiliary’s on a ward and stake level. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and worked in the Family History Library. Jay and Jean served as temple workers at the Idaho Falls Temple.

Jean was an awesome mother and grandmother. She taught her children and grandchildren to knit, sew, cook, garden, and bake sourdough goodies. She also blessed her daughters and granddaughters with the ability to make amazing homemade egg noodles to go with her chicken noodle soup.

Jean is survived by her eight children; Jay R. (Skip) Brenda, Bern (Tammy), Carrie Ann, Tony (Joy), Dean (Karalee), Doug, Evelyn (Serge) Newberry, and Alice (Sherm) Rowe, 29 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.

We would also like to thank Salmon Valley Hospice for taking sure great care of our mother right up to the end. Those three ladies were sure special and our mother thought the world of them and so did we. Thank you!

The viewing will be held Friday, September 11, 2020 from 6-8 pm at the Anderson Funeral Home. On Saturday September 12, 2020, graveside services will be held at 10:00 am at the Lost River Cemetery. All are welcome, but please bring a chair.
