Jordon Stoddard

July 16th, 1942 - March 26th, 2024









Jordon Stoddard, 81, of Egin, Idaho, died March 26, 2024, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born July 16, 1942, in Egin to Blaine “Bill” and Velma McNee Stoddard. He attended Edmunds Elementary and later graduated from Sugar-Salem High School.

He married VerLynn Burnside on July 8, 1960, in Sugar City. They lived in Egin for 5 years before living in Sugar City for a few years. They then moved back to Egin where they made their live long home and raised their family.

In 1963, Jordon started into carpentry and after a couple of years he started his own business, Juniper Mountain Millwork. He built many custom homes in the area. He was a craftsman and took great pride in doing a job right. Later he started a custom door shop, Jordon Stoddard Millwork, and built doors for homes in Jackson, Wyoming, Park City, Utah, Hollywood, California, and Big Fork, Montana.

Jordon was elected to the Fremont County Commission in 2010, and served for 12 years. When questions and issues arose Jordon took pride in taking time to research to bring the best resolution possible to improve things in the county. He enjoyed the employees of the county and had respect for them and the jobs that they did. He spent time learning how all the different aspects of the county worked so that he could make good informed decisions.

Work was his hobby. He wanted to be the best at whatever he did. His attention to detail set him apart from others.

He was the foundation of his family. He believed in the potential of his children and grandchildren and encouraged them in all of their endeavors. He instilled in them his love of work, and a strong work ethic.

He is survived by his wife, VerLynn; children, Dodie Waid and Breck Stoddard; grandchildren, Ambrea and David Wright, Amanda and Michael Nash, Jake and Shaliece Zundel, Nick and Darci Davis; great-grandchildren, Kelley Tibbitts and Travis Heyrend, Kaidance Nash, Torie Wright, Payton Nash, Gracie Davis, Jordie Davis, Breely Zundel, Brock Zundel; four great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Jill Gardner and Zenda Blake.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Velma Stoddard; and son-in-law, Rodney Waid.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 North 1st East in Rexburg. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., and Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., both times at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Parker Cemetery under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home.

Jordon preferred Levi’s. The family suggests casual wear in his honor.
