Obituary Karen Sanchez
February 28th, 1990 - March 5th, 2024
Karen Sofia Sanchez Pongyan, 34, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 5, 2024, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Karen was born February 28, 1990, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to biological father, Maximo Sanchez, and biological mother, Ruth Christine Arthur. She was later fostered by her parents, Refugio “Hank” Garza and Wanita Garza. She grew up in Salt Lake City, and Idaho Falls, and attended Emerson High School in Idaho Falls
On February 28, 2024, she married CodyRay Pongyan in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
She was a member of Victory Assembly of God in Idaho Falls. She loved to craft, was a photographer, loved to cook, loved to take care of people, and was a great mom.
Karen is survived by her husband, CodyRay Pongyan of Idaho Falls, ID; parents, Refugio “Hank” Garza and Wanita Garza of Idaho Falls, ID; biological father, Maximo Sanchez of California; biological mother, Ruth Christine Arthur of Utah; daughters, Marisa Mae Sanchez and CarlaMae Sofia Pongyan, both of Idaho Falls, ID; sisters, Christine “Tina” (Wade) Johnson of Idaho Falls, ID, Paulina (Darrick) Hall of Rigby, ID, and Pamela (Joshua Ray Townsley) Sanchez of Idaho Falls, ID; brothers, Matthew (Jenny) Manzanares, Jose (Cheryl) Ayala, David (Zule) Ayala, Anthony (Raelynn) Garza and Dominnick Garza.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Luis Sanchez; and sisters, Joeanne Sanchez and Jaroldenn Sanchez.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
