Obituary Larry Allyn Stoneberg
December 9th, 1948 - February 22nd, 2024
Larry Allyn Stoneberg, 75, passed away on February 22, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital.
Larry was born December 9, 1948 in Jackson WY to Arne and Eleanor Stoneberg (Sponeman). He grew up in Idaho Falls, attended Holy Rosary Catholic School and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He earned a Doctor of Pharmacy from Idaho State University and became a board-certified Pharmacist in 1976.
Larry was a regional sale representative for Parke-Davis, and later worked for many years as a community pharmacist dedicated to his clients throughout the Treasure Valley before retirement. He enjoyed casino games and made frequent trips to Jackpot and Las Vegas. He was a sports enthusiast, especially baseball and golf, and an avid fan of Boise State University, traveling to football games in Reno, NV, Athens, GA, Washington DC, and Memphis, TN. Larry also loved watching his children run Marathon’s following them to New York, NY, Robie Creek, City of Trees, and Logan, UT.
He is survived by his children, Trevor Ash Stoneberg (Megan) of Boise, Jesse Ash Stoneberg (Candace) and grandchildren Bailey and Delanie of Meridian, Tessie Ash Smith (Stoneberg) and grandchildren Jayson, June, and Joy of Meridian, stepdaughter Summer Ash and grandchild Roam of Boise, and stepson Jonnie Carlyle (Jessica) and grandchildren Oliver and Charlotte of Meridian. Larry is also survived by his brother Ken Stoneberg (Susan) of Crossville, TN, sister Berta Oates (Mike) of Pleasant View, UT, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Keith Stoneberg (Lavon, deceased) and Mark Stoneberg (Lorie), and sister Margaret Stoneberg.
Larry’s most memorable trip was when he had the opportunity to float the Middle Fork of the Salmon River with his friends. He was gone for 30 days and came back with a full beard and a huge smile. He also held a fondness for Jackson Hole, returning each summer in his teenage and young adult years to work at Fred’s Market and live with his grandmother, Ruth Sponeman. His family plans to hold a celebration of life and to honor his wishes to scatter his ashes at Snow King Mountain in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
