Lola Mae Hardy

December 25th, 1948 - March 4th, 2024

Lola Mae (Helsing) Hardy passed away at her home on March 4, 2024, at the age of 75.

Lola was born on December 25, 1948, in Rigby, Idaho to Albert Homer Helsing and Martha Mary Haywood Helsing. She was the greatest Christmas gift her parents and two older brothers, LaVern and Dwain, could have asked for.

Lola graduated from Rigby High School in 1967. She spent her childhood and teen years working on the Haywood Family Homestead raising cattle and chickens, selling eggs, and planting and irrigating crops.

Lola married Alvin Devon Hardy in 1968. Although their marriage was short, they were blessed with a beautiful, red-headed baby girl, Shanon Lynn Hardy. Shanon and Lola enjoyed many wonderful years camping, spending time with cousins, and taking lots of fun trips together.

Lola worked in banking for many years at Valley Bank, Bank of Eastern Idaho, and Bank of Idaho. In retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her two granddaughters, Rachel and Lindsay, and her fur-baby, Sophie.

Lola was an active member of the LDS church and served in many teaching and leadership positions. She also served in the Idaho Falls Temple for several years.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Martha Helsing, and her brothers LaVern and Dwain Helsing. She is survived by her daughter, Shanon (Kurt) Taylor of Idaho Falls, granddaughters Rachel (Greg) Jensen of Rigby, and Lindsay (Brady) Bell of Idaho Falls. Lola was expecting her first two great-grandbabies with a baby girl due in May and a baby boy due in June. We will greatly miss our beloved “G-Ma”.

A viewing will be held Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 5-6:30 p.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home (101 W. Main Street Rigby, ID.) A graveside service will be held Monday, March 11, 2024 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
