Our beautiful sister, Marie Christiansen, passed away on May 31, 2026, at the age of 69. Marie was born on May 15, 1957, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Gale M and Leora Marie Hancock Christiansen. She was the fourth of six daughters and spent her entire life in Pocatello. Just a few weeks before her passing, she moved to Idaho Falls to be closer to her sisters.

Marie attended Washington Elementary School and Franklin Junior High before graduating from Pocatello High School. Following high school, she attended Idaho State University, where she pursued studies that included photography and French language courses.

One of Marie’s greatest gifts was her ability to connect with people. She reached out to others without judgment and had a remarkable way of helping people feel comfortable, accepted, and understood. She seemed to instinctively know when someone needed a kind word, encouragement, or support.

Marie had a special love for dogs, particularly German Shepherds. She owned several dogs throughout her life and was often described as a natural “dog whisperer”. Her dogs adored her, and friends and family frequently sought her advice when it came to caring for their own pets.

She found joy in many simple pleasures. Marie had a love for drawing, writing poems, spending time outdoors, and she enjoyed singing. She possessed a natural talent for making things grow. Whether caring for plants, animals, or people, she nurtured everything around her.

Family meant everything to Marie. She especially enjoyed attending Bullock family reunions and spending time with loved ones at family gatherings. She was a cherished aunt to her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. The affection was mutual, and she held a special place in their hearts. Marie was named after both her mother and grandmother, and her legacy continues through several nieces who have been given her name.

Marie is survived by her sisters: Galene (Clinton) Robinson, Marsha (Charles) Olsen, Yvonne (Steven) Young, Julie (John) Buck, and Lee Ann (Victor) Hashem; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law.

Marie chose to be an organ and tissue donor. Through this final act of love, she was able to provide hope and healing to others in need.

Inurnment will be held at 11:00 a.m., June 17, 2026, at Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello. Online condolences may be shared through www.coltrinmortuary.com.
