Patricia Ann Murdock Schiess

June 5th, 1955 - April 7th, 2024

Patricia Ann Murdock Schiess left this earthly world on April 7, 2024. She arrived to this world June 5, 1955, to Silvon and Fay Murdock, the fourth of five children.

Patricia made her home in beautiful Teton Valley, Idaho. Her early years were spent as her father’s shadow working with the horse and cattle and all aspects of life on the ranch. Life outdoors on the ranch was one of her favorite places in the world. At a church dance when she was 16, she met the love of her life, Lorin Schiess. They were sealed for time and eternity on April 27, 1974, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Lorin & Patricia were preparing to quietly celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this month.

Lorin & Patricia welcomed two girls, Lori Kay and Lindsay Ann, followed by two boys, Andrew Nephi and Kurt Ulrich. Mom joked that she had the perfect set. Patricia’s world revolved around her family. She was blessed with seven grandchildren: Valy, Eliza, Tucker, Reuben, Gideon, Mason, and Garrett.

Lorin and Patricia would travel often to visit their children and grandchildren. Car trips through Yellowstone and areas around the West were a hallmark of our childhood and Mom & Dad continued to do that in their later years. Over the last few years, riding trains had become something they loved to do together and they took many trips doing that.

Patricia did many things in her life. She was always involved in music and activities around Teton Valley with friends and family. When her children were young, she worked at Valley Bank and then CART Transportation in Driggs. For the last 20 plus years, she has worked for the Bar T 5 Chuckwagon Dinner Show and the National Elk Refuge Sleigh Rides in Jackson, Wyoming. The Bar T 5 brought her back to her roots on the ranch. The amazing people that she worked for there and the 100’s of crew over the years became her extended family. Patricia had many other people that came into her life through those experiences. She was a consummate professional, but she was a person that people loved and remembered. It was rare to meet someone that knew Mom and, when they found out we were her family, the first thing they would say is “Oh, I love Pat!”.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Lorin Schiess, her children, Lori Schiess, Lindsay & Allen Spencer, Andrew Schiess, and Krystal Schiess, her grandchildren, Evalyn “Valy” Schiess, Eliza Spencer, Tucker Schiess, Reuben Schiess, Gideon Schiess, Mason Schiess, and Garrett Schiess, and her siblings, JaNell Ure, Cheryl & Bill Hastings, Shona & Ted Kasper, and James & Gaylene Murdock, and many, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kurt Schiess and her parents, Silvon & Fay Murdock and William & Ruby Schiess.

A gathering to celebrate Patricia’s life will be held on Saturday, April 13, from 1-4 pm at the Victor LDS Church Cultural Hall. While they are beautiful, no flowers are necessary. Mom didn’t care for formal events, so in Mom’s honor, please come comfy and casual to visit with friends & family, as that is the way she would have liked it!
