Sandra Lou Jenkins, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 24, 2025, at The Gables of Idaho Falls. She was under the care of Mission Hospice.

Sandra was born July 2, 1939, in Boise, Idaho, to Ross Leon Simmons, Sr. and Fontella Gardner Simmons. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School, and attended Brigham Young University and Idaho State University. She completed her Master’s Degree at the University of Idaho.

On January 24, 1959, she married Jackie Lee Jenkins in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 23, 1964. Sandra and Jack made their home west of Idaho Falls in the New Sweden area. Sandra worked in Environmental Sciences for the INL.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a baptized convert at 18 years of age. She enjoyed skiing, oil painting, sewing, candle making, swimming, jewelry making, cake decorating, tap dancing, quilt making, flower gardening, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Sandra is survived by her son, Curt (Launa) Jenkins of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Michelle (Doyle) Ricci of Newcastle, WY; daughter, Cindy Jenkins of Chandler, AZ; son, Todd (Kathy) Jenkins of Shelley, ID; grandchildren, Nate and Kayla Price, Mayson and Joel LaPray, Erin and Mason Jacobsen, and Drew Jenkins; great-grandchildren, Paisley and Boone Price and Madison Jacobsen; and brother, Ross (Oni) Simmons of Dallas, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Fontella Simmons; husband, Jack Lee Jenkins; grandson, Joshua Jack Jenkins; and granddaughter, Kelsey Hurst.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the New Sweden Cemetery.

The family would like to express their thanks to the caregivers and nurses at The Idaho Falls Gables and Mission Hospice for their loving care of their mom.
