Jim Davis/The Boston Globe via Getty Images(BOSTON) — After a report from Yahoo Sports! that said several players from the Boston Red Sox were very critical of manager Bobby Valentine in a players only meeting July 26, Dustin Pedroia, who was reported to be one of the most vocal players in the meeting, says he doesn’t think Valentine should be fired.

“We’re trying to play the game the right way, have an organization that does things right and just play winning baseball,” Pedroia said after Tuesday’s loss to the Baltimore Orioles. “It’s tough when all this stuff comes out that everyone is trying to get the manager fired. That’s not the case man. I never met the guy that wrote this story.”

Owner John Henry issued a vote of confidence for Valentine.

The Red Sox are currently 57-60, and 6.5 games out of the second Wild Card spot in the American League.
