(MARICOPA, Ariz.) — If you can’t beat ’em, copy them…sort of. At least that’s what one Arizona homeowner did when a neighbor put on a very elaborate Christmas light show.
Karen Green moved into her community last August not knowing her next door neighbor would put up about 20,000 Christmas lights out front. Green says she couldn’t compete with them, so she put up a sign — using only about 900 lights — that says “ditto,” with an arrow pointing to her next door neighbor’s setup.
“So we could say hey, we can’t do it as good as you can, but ditto to you guys,” Green said in an interview with ABC News Radio affiliate KTAR-FM.
Now the “ditto” sign is getting a lot of attention, and it even has its own Facebook page.
“We have probably 100 to 150 people every night that come by our house and take pictures with their families,” Green said.
Next year Green says she plans to have a food drive for those who want to visit and pitch in to help the community.
