(OAKLAND, Calif.) — The Oakland Athletics have agreed to a one-year $1.35 million contract with right-handed pitcher Chris Resop, the team announced Thursday.
The A’s avoided salary arbitration by reaching the deal.
Oakland acquired Resop on Nov. 30 in a trade with Pittsburgh in which the A’s sent minor league pitcher Zach Thornton to the Pirates.
The 30-year-old Resop is expected to serve as a middle reliever in 2013. In seven major league seasons, Resop has compiled 32 holds, with a 4.51 ERA and 1.51 WHIP.
