(NEW YORK) — The San Francisco Giants and catcher Buster Posey agreed on a nine-year extension worth $167 million, reports ESPN MLB insider Buster Olney.
Posey took home the National League’s Most Valuable Player award in 2012 and is the first catcher since Johnny Bench in 1972 to achieve the feat.
Posey, 25, finished the 2012 season with a .336 average, 24 homers and 103 RBIs.
Posey has been apart of two World Series championships since coming up with the Giants in 2009.
