Body Pulled From Snake River

(BLACKFOOT, ID) – A Blackfoot man drowned in the Snake River in Bingham County Friday evening.  Sixty-eight-year–old Michael Birch was fishing in the Thomas area and never returned home. Rescue crews spent several hours searching the river, and found Birch’s body at about noon Saturday. Foul play is not considered a factor in the incident, which remains under investigation. Authorities say Birch was a retired employee of the U.S. Forest Service.
